Give Yourself Time to Pause

Slowing down is necessary and important work in the winter months. Winter is nature’s reminder to slow down, pause, and listen deeply to inner stillness. As we move gently into the heart of winter and contract physically with the colder weather, we are also expanding internally into the light with each day growing a little longer after winter solstice.

Everyone can experience the winter “blahs” and it’s important to honor those feelings. Know that you can begin again with a deep breath.

Winter is an important season to move inward for rest and replenishment. As winter’s cold, wet, dark, and heavy qualities increase around us, they grow within us as well. Now is the time to nourish your affirmations and goals through winter to create the bountiful ground to blossom up refreshed in the spring.

Nature shows us different rhythms and cycles, and everything is temporary. There are also rhythms to our bodies, minds, and emotions that are consistently linked with nature. When our inner world is in sync with the natural cycles around us, there is sense of harmony and well-being. When we are disconnected in the physical body and mind, stress and discomfort increases, and vital energy diminishes. Consistently showing up for yourself is the first step to well-being in every season.

As we shift into the heart of winter, connecting breath with gentle movement helps us stay present with consistency.

Deep breathing can also help warm the body, improve circulation, calm the mind, and cultivate inner awareness, without expending unnecessary energy. Conscious breathing linked with gentle movement also helps release tension and nurtures the conditions for the breath to flow freely and warm up from the inside out. We create space for the breath to come and go on its own to open the heart and mind, consistently connecting with inner ease.

Honor where you are and give yourself the gift of time. Yoga is a great form of self-care, and with consistent practice, it becomes a healthy habit. With just 10-minutes a day, you can feel better in your body and mind. I offer weekly 10-minute pre-recorded yoga classes in Align Your Flow with fresh themes and journal prompts/reflections each week to help you stay consistent with your yoga practice and time for yourself.

Pause. Breathe. Listen. Know that YOU are a superhero with inner magic!

Sending you love and light!

Cheers,

Marla
