Self-Care for All Seasons — Consistency is Key

To thrive in daily life, consistent self-care is key. Know deeply that self-care is really all about you. What works for one person may not work for another, and that’s the beauty of a personal self-care routine. You can begin again with a deep breath for a fresh perspective, and try something new. Most things take time to grow, including the benefits of self-care.

Start where you are and do what you can.

Although it’s easier to decide self-care is “too hard”, “selfish”, or must be an entire day, a big trip, or expensive in order to feel benefits, simplicity is key. Take the pressure off yourself by first releasing what self-care should look like, then flow with what makes you feel happy.

Start with pausing throughout the day to breathe deeply. Focus on the clearing and releasing points of inhales and exhales. With time, breathing with intention may improve overall well-being with a mind-set shift to really thrive, not just survive.

We live in a society of “more is better”. We may feel “lazy” if not constantly “doing”.

In fact, slowing down is essential to living in the true moment. As life becomes more hectic and fast-paced with packed itinerary calendars and a constant flow of message alerts on phones and computers; taking time for self-care becomes essential to thrive, not just survive.

The key to self-care starts with building consistent, healthy habits that can easily flow into your daily life. Self-care includes anything to keep yourself healthy and energetically full, physically and emotionally.

Get Back-to-Basics with Self-Care:

1. Be kind to yourself and others.

2. Breathe intentionally. Make time for yourself, it doesn’t need to be complicated.

3. Pause to listen deeply inside. Is there internal chatter? Try breathing with: “Let it Be” or “Let Go”.

4. Unplug from digital stimulation.

5. Give yourself permission to say “yes” or “no” to anything you may like or don’t like.

Realign yourself with a new definition of self-care, it can be things that are simple and immediately accessible. Remembering “less is more” will help you stay consistent with a routine. Give yourself a break from the pressures of life, have some fun, and connect with yourself. Gift yourself time with yourself.

Self-care is essential to thrive, not just survive.

Yoga is a great form of self-care, and with consistent practice, it becomes a healthy habit. With just 10-minutes a day, you can feel better in your body and mind. I offer weekly 10-minute pre-recorded yoga classes in Align Your Flow with fresh themes and journal prompts/reflections each week to help you stay consistent with your yoga practice and time for yourself.

Consistency is the key to progressing. Remember, a little, plus often, equals a lot.

Sending you love and light!

Cheers,

Marla
