Have you experienced FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)?

The definition of FOMO by Merriam-Webster Dictionary is: “fear of not being included in something (such as an interesting or enjoyable activity) that others are experiencing”.

In summertime (and really, in any season) it’s easy to fall into the illusion that “everyone” is on a “dreamy” vacation. Every. Single. Weekend.

But focusing on what you are not doing is actually taking away from what you should be doing — caring for yourself.

First, know that you are fantastic! You are a unique being flowing through and with this beautiful life. And although we are all given different tasks to tackle, mindset is everything.

If FOMO is becoming a distraction, start here:

• Breathe. Tune in to your daily intention and get your body and mind moving.

• Focus on what you do have.

• Set goals: Include goals that are “easy” accomplished in this day, week, and month. Set long-term goals that can be accomplished with the short-term goals.

• Connect with any opportunity where you are at this point in time.

As always, we never actually know what the story is behind each cool photo we see on social media.

Although many things in life are seen as “Insta”, most photos have a deeper story. Letting go of immediate gratification is a process, and may require a lot of “rinse and repeat”.

Although photos and videos may bring up envious feelings, it could be a starting point for goals you would like to accomplish or a place you would like to visit. Start with “bite size” time to focus on you for a mind-set shift.

Try this when you wake up and/or before going to sleep tonight: Make a list of three things you are grateful for. They can be super simple like: “I’m grateful for the beautiful sunset”. Affirm the positive in your life now.

Carve “me time” into your day or evening. Try waking up 30 minutes earlier, or even 5 minutes earlier. Give yourself a moment to start with a deep breath without rushing into the day. Or, try winding down for bedtime earlier. Staying consistent with healthy habits and routines is important for overall well-being.

Self-care can be easy and free! Quick tips are below:

1. Go for a walk.

2. Read before bed instead of scrolling.

3. Take an extra long shower & try a COLD rinse.

4. Recline & rest with legs up the wall.

5. Do nothing. Go technology free for a set amount of time. It’s the ultimate self-care hack. Just be and breathe. Let go of doing.
